For Moses Moody, Christmas has always been about family. “I’ve got a really big family, and what I love most about Christmas is that it brings us all together,” he shares. Growing up, Christmas meant spending the day at his grandma’s house—playing games inside and out, wrestling with his cousins, and watching his uncles dive into competitive spades games. It’s those moments of togetherness that stand out as his favorite part of the holiday.
But as Moses has grown older, he’s come to appreciate Christmas in a new way. “As a kid, it was all about what gifts you were going to get,” he says. “Now, it’s just as exciting thinking about the gifts you’re going to give. I heard someone say, ‘When you get a gift, you eat better. When you give a gift, you sleep better,’ and that really stuck with me. It’s a shift in perspective that makes the holiday even more special.”
This year, Moses plans to celebrate Christmas with his parents, brother, and close family in the Bay Area. “We’ll eat, play games, exchange gifts—just like always,” he explains. “Of course, I have a game on Christmas Day, so we’ll work around that, but it’s still a chance to be together and enjoy the day.”
For Moses, Christmas is more than just a single day; it’s a season filled with joy, reflection, and gratitude. “I look at every holiday as a reason to celebrate something. The origin of Christmas is meaningful, but the holiday itself is a chance to embrace the spirit of the season—the decorations, the music, the movies. It’s all part of creating something to be happy about, and I love to just get into it.”
No matter how busy life gets, Moses Moody reminds us that the true magic of Christmas lies in the moments shared with loved ones and the joy found in giving back.
